This book consists of articles written in 2023-26, on my personal observations of the Western political landscape of this era. Together, I think they make a clear case for the need for a new moderate-libertarian politics. This politics would be inherently moderate i.e. rejecting both the ideological far-left and far-right alike, and also libertarian-gradualist, i.e. with a clear goal of moving towards more freedom over time. The latter point is important, because with both the far-left and the far-right trying to move in a clearly authoritarian-populist direction, ‘procedural centrists’ whose idea of moderation is just to stand between the two poles might end up in an authoritarian-middle position, inspired by both the populist left and the populist right, by default. In contrast, this book attempts to demonstrate how and why moderation and freedom are inherently linked, thus rejecting the authoritarian-middle position, and embracing the moderate-libertarian position.
